Peg turners are most often thought of as a solution to sticky and troublesome pegs, but they are much more than that. Even instrument pegs that are well-fitted and smoothly turning can strain the hands. Especially in a concert situation where the hands must perform perfectly, turning pegs can overtax the hand, affecting the playing facility. Additionally, the hands become more susceptible to this toil as we age, and tuning an instrument can be quite a trial. Peg turners are a way to solve this fatigue.

The Gamut 3-D printed peg turner offers extra leverage across a broader surface than the peg grip, allowing easier turning and less effort on the hand while turning.     Lute peg wrench

    Perfect fit, nice ergonomics. There’s a competitor wrench —the one the big round knob— that’s poorly made—just terrible in comparison to the Gamut product.

    I Iike the shape and style of this peg turner. It gives enough leverage to smoothly turn a sticky peg. It stands out from the pegs enough to prevent hand and finger cramping.

    The "walls" of the cavity seem a bit thin and flexible, and I wonder how well they will hold up to the stress of regular usage. Also, the heads of my pegs are slightly inconsistent in width so that the tool is a rather tight fit on some of them (in the long dimension of the cavity).

    A lute peg tuner that works

    I am delighted with this lute peg tuner. It fits over the pegs I am turning and between the pegs I am not turning and makes turning easy. In short, it works.
