The Gamut Pavan Renaissance guitar has the same outline of the Dias model guitar. However, rather than having the fluted back, the Pavan guitar has a flat back. The tone is bright and lively, and playability is excellent with a low action and a comfortable "scoop" in the front to allow plenty of room for the fingers to pluck cleanly.
The design aesthetic follows that of the other affordable instruments at Gamut Music such as the Recercar six-course lute, Fantasia eight course lute, Saraband eleven-course lute and Prelude Baroque guitar.
The Pavan guitar has the following features:
- Cherry back and sides
- Mahogany neck
- Cherry fingerboard with rosewood trim
- Mahogany head with cherry front plate
- Boxwood pegs
- AAA Engelmann spruce front
- Three layer cherry decorative rose
- Cherry bridge with rosewood cap
- Decorative cherry bridge ends
- Nylon strings
- Gut frets
- Soft case
Dimensions of the instrument are:
- String length- 55cm
- Body length - 36.5cm
- Width lower bouts - 19.5cm
- Width waist - 5.5cm
- Width upper bouts 17cm
- Overall length - 76.5cm

I love this guitar. It provides a real insight into what guitars may have sounded like 500 years ago. The playability and intonation are excellent and the finish is very tidy and exudes craftsmanship. This instrument has encouraged me to play more renaissance music - what more could you want?
