This is a standard length, (120cm, 48"), treble gut string made with beef serosa, available with either a natural or varnish finish. Natural strings are hand- rubbed with a light oil. Varnished strings have three coats of finish before being hand polished with the oil.
Beef serosa has a higher tensile strength than does sheep gut, so this string is useful for instruments that require extra durability. If your instrument has a longer string length which puts beyond the comfortable range for gut strings, the beef gut would be a good choice for string material as it will stand the strain a little better.
Beef gut is processed to be a little harder than the other kinds of gut and also has a lower twist of about 15 degrees to increase the strength and is an ideal string for the piccolo cello e-1.

of all the brands ive tried this looks, feels & sounds most nicely. wd try with other ranges
My string was shipped quickly. I immediately installed it on my Violincello Piccolo by Johann Gottlieb Hoyer (1774-1807) and the sound is wonderful and the string stays on pitch. I will most likely be purchasing the gut G & A strings in the future. Dan personally emailed me and I viewed his YouTube on Gamut Strings and Instruments. This is a very caring and professional company.
I ordered a heavy tension as my cello is a smaller 5-str (adjusting the gauge to accommodate the shorter vibrating length) but as this higher pitch will present a fairly taught string to begin with, next time I will try the light tension.
