Did you know Gamut Music offers re-winding for contrabass strings?

The problem with bass wound strings is that they will eventually develop a buzzing sound when the core shrinks and the wire becomes loose. When this happens you can send the old string back to Gamut Music and we will stretch the core again and put new wire on it. This process can be done to a string at least three times before the core degrades and loses tone. 

This service is available only for Academie strings purchased from Gamut Music; Red Diamond re-winding is available for the A-3 and E-4 strings. We do not recondition other brands of strings.
