This is the Goldbrokat violin e-1 steel string made famous for being the first high-carbon string for solo performance. Before this the steel was softer with a tin coating. The string is a high-carbon steel with a loop end for attaching to a fine-tuner. The string is available from Gamut Music only in the Medium gauge of 0.26mm (0.066).
The Goldbrokat blends beautifully with the Tricolore a, D, G. That's its inexpensive is just a bonus.

Great E string, you can find it cheaper but its nice to buy from here and help out Gamut. This string is easy to play and does not whistle very much, feels very smooth under the hand. I have acidic hands so they dont last very long
Although this string sounds quite wonderful (I mean, there's a reason Heifetz used it), it does not last long.
